My 2008 year in review

Every year people make resolutions for the New Year. I have not made a resolution in a long while because things change over the course of time and I usually don't accomplish my resolution. I decided that it would be better for me to look over the past year and decide what I did well or accomplished or learned and celebrate that instead instead of looking to something that hasn't happened and setting myself up for failure.
Later...1/10/09 I have decided that I will NOT buy any trash bags this year. So I guess that's my resolution. It just struck me that we are insanely paying money for something that doesn't biodegrade very well and that is going to the trash.
So, here is my list for 2008

learned about social networking

set up blogs

made posts to blogs

wrote posts on wikis

took pictures with a digital camera and included my own photos with my blog posts

got a new computer, tv, printer, wireless keyboard, and web cam

installed a wireless card in my desk top computer

learned that there are free movies and TV on the internet

visited Oblebay resort at Christmas

Shizenvi submitted this on YouTube and it's awsome. Your timing is right on and I love your combination of WOW with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

A Talent for Google docs

It's amazing what artistry you can accomplish with something you didn't think of as a drawing tool. Art is in everything. What if we approached everything this way?

xKaylaaMariex put this Doris Day and Dean Martin duet with Disney clips together on YouTube. Nice couple of voices from the Buckeye state and very nice work.

I have heard that there is a very nice virtual duet with Dean and Martina McBride, too. I haven't found that one, but if you do...give a shout. Thanks!!

Merry Christmas cause it's a Wonderful Life

"It's a Wonderful Life and Where are You Christmas by Faith Hill. No matter how dark this season of your life is now, it will get better, you will make it! YOU MATTER!!"

A huge thanks to riverrider777 on YouTube for this beautiful Christmas wish!!

Twitter grader

You might have noticed an icon in my sidebar that is showing my "twitter grade". There's more to this than meets the eye. If you go to Twitter Grader, and fill in your handle, not only will you get your twitter grade, it will tell you how it is calculated. There are also some great ways to find other twitter stars to follow. Even just hovering your curser over the pics will tell you the twitter grades of the people shown. If you click on them, you get the information page that you got when you incerted your twitter handle, except, of course, it's their page.
I highly recommend you check this out if you are into Twitter.

Who is John December

...and where did he go?
I found John's picture along with a bit about who he is and his intentions while looking for hex codes. He has really nice hex codes.
It says "My dream is to make a living as an independent Web publisher. Working since 1992, I've steadily expanded my Internet information efforts, and now I've reached that dream. I am grateful to all the people who have made use of my online works and books and those who visit my Web site--thank you!"
Off to the right of John's message are ways to get in touch and see what he is up to currently including a YahooBlogLog. This is something new to me. So, since I see that John is into Yahoo, I think I'll try that out. Well, I get all signed up and do a search for John. He doesn't show up in my search.
If I click on his name in the Yahoobloglog I get to go to his page that has a new picture (it's a much better one)

So it goes...all I was up to was finding some hex codes and here I am with John and Yahoobloglog trying to figure out how it works. In the mean time, John, if you happen to see this, thanks for the hex page and all the information

Google fun

Until today, I didn't know about the many things you can do with Google for fun. I was just searching for a Christmas Google Logo when I found this picture of Googlolopoly. Next I was off and running. There is Toogle,
which creates images out of the very term that was used to fetch those images.
There is Googlism which will find out what Google thinks of you, your friends or anything!
Here are several more like; Gwigle and Googlewhack...I get such a kick out of the names.
There is even a Googlegameroom. It's geared more towards the youngsters, but we are all just kids at heart anyway.
Amazingly, there is something called Guess the Google. It gives you a hint and you guess what the search term is for it. It also has top scores posted so you have competition.
Frankly, I like the clean look of Google and the gameroom is a bit too distracting for me, but there are some alternatives and they are educational, too. Try The Image Quiz Real World Racer a google maps racing game or for us artsy folks see Montage-a-goolge. Try looking here here and (here is the Googolopoly game) for more. Have fun!!

Free TVand Movies

On a trip to Best Buy, we were discussing how we are going to deal with
the new TV signal after February 17th when an employee there told us about

"Hulu's mission is to help you find and enjoy the world's premium content, when, where and how you want it. Our library includes thousands of videos, from full episodes of new and archive TV shows to full-length movies to sports games and highlights to clips. We are always working with our content partners to deliver the most compelling selection of programming online."
We are thrilled with HULU. It's a viable option to cable, conversion boxes, or traveling to the video store.

Watching you

I thought I would take a walk here.
I want to look at you.
What are you doing?
Where are you going?
Do you see me?
I am right beside you.
Let me touch your heart.

Touched by An Angel
by Maya Angelou

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.
